Is scrapping of old vehicles only option left?

Vehicle scrapping policy

Some useful Video on Vehicle scrapping policy of Govt. of India quoted below:

We must take things positively and support the vehicle scrapping policy of Govt. of India.

Is scrapping of old vehicles only option left?

  1. Govt. should improve public transport and increase its frequency so that people will find it most convenient.

  2. People should be encouraged to use bicycles for their day-to day needs at home and at offices.

  3. People should be discouraged to own private vehicles.

  4. Roads should be made of only 2 lanes and must have special tracks for bicycles and for safe walking.

  5. Investments on making roads more than of 2 lanes should be diverted to other developmental needs including for education, health and of course for making public transport more efficient.

These options have many benefits; a few are listed below:

  • Will save petrol and diesel consumed in private vehicles that not only pollute air but also cause traffic congestion, be it e-vehicles.

  • Will save environment since emissions and exhaust from the vehicles are responsible for Global Warming and damage to the environment most. During LOCKDOWNs due to COVID-19, we had observed that sky became clear & blue with extended visibility to see beauty of distant mountains like Himalaya.

  • Use of bicycles will create more jobs in servicing down to the smallest and remote villages. This will also help in reversing Rural Migration.
